My
name is La'Marcus Wingate. I was born in Cheraw, South Carolina
on November 2, 1980. I am a graduate of the class of 1999 at
Cheraw High School. After graduation from high school, I went to
Marine Corps basic training in the summer of 1999 to prepare me
for my role in the Marine Corps reserve. Following my graduation
from the Marine Corps boot camp, I started my attendance at
Clemson University in South Carolina. I majored in microbiology
and graduated magna cum laude in the spring of 2003. During the
summer before my senior year, I did research at the Medical
University of South Carolina in the areas of gene transplant.
During my senior year at Clemson I was accepted in the dual
degree program at the University of Tennessee School of Pharmacy
to begin working towards a PharmD. degree and a Ph.D. in the
area of Health Science Administration.
Currently I am in my third year of study at the University of
Tennessee School of Pharmacy. I have been a member of SNPhA all
three years serving as social chair and chaplain. Also, I was
elected as the most promising P1 member. I have also been a
member of the Black Student Association (BSA) for all three
years and was appointed as the pharmacy representative in the
past. Currently, I serve as the Vice President, webmaster, and
Black History Month Chairman for the Black Student Association.
I am also representative for the Health Science Administration
Program on the Graduate Student Executive Council. I have been
the lead author on one article published in the Tennessee
Pharmacist and second author on two other articles within this
journal. I am also an author on a pending article within the
American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education.
Recently I
have been awarded a Geier Minority Fellowship for the project
entititled "The Community Pharmacy and Neighborhood Access to
Health Care in Minority Communities". I am most fond of my
service at my local church, "World Overcomes Outreach Ministries
Church" www.worldovercomers.org". I am a graduate of the
"Kingdom Seekers" new members perfecting class from January 25,
2004. After this time I began to serve as an usher. Subsequently
I began serving in the spiritual mapping intercessory prayer
ministry and the college cell groups outreach.
It is an honor to serve as the director of the Men's Health
Education Center as a Pharmacist for Africa. This is a noble
group that is destined for great achievements within and outside
the African continent. Feel free to let me know if you have
further questions.
